Major tourist attractions in Gilbert include Bounce Zone,
Coast Club, Freestone Railroad LLC and Play in Place. The nearest airport to
Gilbert is Phoenix Mesa Gateway Airport, which is located in east Mesa, around
twenty-five minute drive from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. The most
important freeway of Gilbert is the Santan Freeway portion of the Loop 202
beltway around the East Valley. Other important roads are Chandler Boulevard,
Gilbert Road and Williams Field Road. There is no train service available. The
bus service is available from Gilbert Town to Downtown Phonenix.

Gilbert is a relatively new community, which has seen
tremendous growth during the past two decades. The town is an excellent place
for businesses and residents. Gilbert is a town with relatively low crime rate.
According to the FBI, Gilbert was the largest town in the United States with
zero murders in 2005. According to Sister Cities International, Inc. (SCI),
Gilbert has two sister cities. The first one is Newtownabbey, located in
Northern Ireland, UK. The relationship was established on November 17, 1998. The
second one is Leshan, located at Sichuan, China. The relationship was
established on December 12, 2000. Each sister city offers Gilbert, tremendous
cultural and business opportunities.
Demographic Information
Gilbert is a large town located in Maricopa County, Arizona,
United States. The town is located at 33°21′00″N 111°47′21″W at 1,273 feet above
the sea level. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a
total area of 43.2 square miles (111.9 km²). As of the census of 2000, there
were 109,697 people, 35,405 households, and 28,925 families residing in the
town. The population density was 2,553.7 people per square mile (985.9/km²). The
city was founded on July 6, 1891 as a rail siding for Arizona Eastern Railway.
The town of Gilbert was incorporated in 1920. The name of the city was taken
from William "Bobby" Gilbert, the owner of the property on which the rail siding
was built.
